Adds a dateFormat prop to the <Datepicker> component that customizes how the selected date is displayed in the input, as requested in #1651 and the older #1245.
The prop accepts Intl.DateTimeFormatOptions and combines with the existing language prop, so the same options produce locale-appropriate output:
#1314 attempted this with an inputFormat token string backed by date-fns, which needed a new dependency and clashed with the component's Intl.DateTimeFormat internals (date-fns enUS vs Intl en-US locales) — that mismatch is where it stalled. This implementation instead passes the options straight into the existing getFormattedDate helper: no new dependency, no token parsing, and the prop shape matches what react-aria's DatePicker exposes (formatOptions: Intl.DateTimeFormatOptions), which is where this component is headed per #1245. If #1314 should be closed in favor of this, happy to have that.

DatepickerProps adds dateFormat. The component uses it to format selected and initial dates. When a time zone is specified, the helper adjusts its date anchor. Tests cover locale ordering, calendar-day preservation, time fields, and date boundaries.
Document and demonstrate date formatting apps/web/examples/datepicker/datepicker.format.tsx, apps/web/examples/datepicker/index.ts, apps/web/content/docs/components/datepicker.mdx
A new example sets language to en-GB and supplies day, month, and year formatting options. The example is exported, and the documentation describes dateFormat and locale-specific output.
The formatting option is usable for ordinary dates. Near JavaScript’s maximum date, time-zone formatting can display the wrong day or throw; these narrow programmatic-input cases warrant a guard or explicit owner acceptance.

Explanation
The PR meets the coding requirements for [#1245] and [#1651]. DatepickerProps adds optional dateFormat?: Intl.DateTimeFormatOptions. Datepicker.tsx applies the options to the selected and initial input values and combines them with language. Tests verify default formatting and en-GB European ordering. The implementation preserves the default path when dateFormat is omitted. The string API in [#1651] is a proposed implementation, not a required acceptance criterion.

Keep the selected calendar day when dateFormat sets timeZone.
With a timeZone in dateFormat, the input can show the previous calendar day. The selection is stored as local midnight, and Intl converts that instant into the requested zone. The highlighted day and the input text then disagree. Decide whether timeZone should shift the displayed day or be applied to the calendar day only. Then document that behavior, or convert the selected day before formatting.

Update the displayValue formatting flow in Datepicker so a dateFormat timeZone
does not make the input show a different calendar day from the selected day.
Establish whether the time zone should shift the displayed day or only affect
formatting, then implement that behavior by converting the selected day before
formatting or documenting the intended day-shifting behavior.

Fixed in 188fb91. getFormattedDate now anchors the date to UTC noon of the selected calendar day and corrects the offset when a zone would shift the day, so the input always shows the selected day regardless of the timeZone in dateFormat. Covered by a deterministic unit test formatting a local date in UTC.
@NokNok-0 Thanks for the update. The UTC-noon anchor fixes the reported UTC case, but the correction still fails at month boundaries.
In helpers.ts, Line 139 compares day-of-month numbers to choose the adjustment direction. For January 31 in Pacific/Kiritimati (UTC+14), the anchor formats as February 1. Since 1 > 31 is false, the loop moves forward instead of backward.
Compare complete calendar dates when choosing the adjustment direction. Add a regression test for January 31 with timeZone: "Pacific/Kiritimati". The current UTC test does not exercise the correction branch.
I inspected the implementation and test source. I did not run repository tests. This finding remains open.

When dateFormat sets timeZone, getFormattedDate formats anchored, the UTC noon instant of the selected calendar day. Hour and minute fields show the target zone's time for that instant. They show 12:00 only in zones with a zero UTC offset. The time of the date argument is not read on this path. Before this change, the helper formatted date directly, so a time-bearing defaultValue displayed its own time.
Any fix must reconcile the input's time with the selected day. Shifting the anchor by whole days with addDays moves the instant by 23 or 25 hours across a local DST transition. It moves target-zone wall-clock time by one hour across a target-zone DST transition. Starting the loop from date therefore does not keep the displayed time in these cases.

Update the `anchored` value used by `getFormattedDate` when `dateFormat`
includes `timeZone` so formatting preserves the input’s time while representing
the selected calendar day. Use an established timezone-aware approach rather
than shifting the anchor by whole days, and ensure the result remains correct
across local and target-zone DST transitions.
Add a time zone case that exercises the day-correction loop.
Add a time zone case that exercises the day-correction loop.
The new test at helpers.test.tsx:174-179 uses timeZone: "UTC". In UTC, the UTC-noon anchor stays on January 15, so the correction loop in getFormattedDate returns on its first check. Removing the loop still produces 01/15/2023, and the test still passes. No other test in packages/ui/src sets a time zone, so this branch has no regression coverage there.
Add a case for a zone where the anchor moves to the next day. For Pacific/Kiritimati (UTC+14), January 15 at UTC noon is 02:00 on January 16. The loop moves the anchor back to January 15. Without the loop, the output is 01/16/2023, so the test fails. For this midmonth fixture, the current output is 01/15/2023. The gap is in coverage, not in the displayed output.

Add a regression test alongside the existing time-zone test for getFormattedDate
that exercises the day-correction loop: use Pacific/Kiritimati with the January
15, 2023 fixture and assert the formatted result remains 01/15/2023.
- build the anchor with setUTCFullYear so years 0-99 keep their year
- compare full zoned calendar dates through a dedicated Gregorian formatter,
so non-Gregorian calendars and dateFormat options without a day part no
longer break the correction loop or drift its direction
- add regression tests for January 31 in Pacific/Kiritimati and year 5 in UTC
Time fields use a fixed anchor time when timeZone is set.
When timeZone is set, getFormattedDate formats the selected calendar day from a 12:00 UTC anchor (helpers.ts:137-139). A time field in dateFormat, such as hour or minute, prints the anchor time for every date. With { timeZone: "UTC", hour: "numeric", minute: "numeric" }, each date shows 12:00 PM.
Without timeZone, the same options print the time of the Date passed in (helpers.ts:124-125). The two modes therefore give different time output for the same options.
Choose the time to display for time fields when timeZone is set. The time should come from the Date value, and the output must still show the selected calendar day.

Update getFormattedDate’s timeZone path so date fields still reflect the
selected calendar day while time fields reflect the time from the Date value,
rather than the fixed 12:00 UTC anchor. Preserve the existing behavior for
formatting the selected day.
…timeZone
- the anchor keeps the date's own wall time, so time fields in dateFormat
print the date's time instead of a fixed anchor time
- the zoned comparison is era-aware, so BCE dates stay on the selected day
- fall back to plain formatting when anchoring the maximum Date overflows
the valid range instead of throwing during render
Mock the local wall time to exercise the invalid-anchor fallback.
On UTC and negative-offset hosts, the anchor for the maximum Date stays valid. The test at helpers.test.tsx:223-224 therefore never reaches the Number.isNaN fallback at helpers.ts:142-144. Removing that guard would leave this test passing on those hosts. On positive-offset hosts, removing the guard would throw a RangeError, and this test would catch it.
The anchor reads host-local getters at helpers.ts:139-140. It does not read the timeZone option. Setting a UTC+ zone in the test does not control the path. The repository does not pin the host zone, so the result depends on the runner. Mock the local getters to a fixed wall time that overflows on every host:

The pinned wall time puts the anchor one hour past the maximum Date. The guard then runs on every host. The formatToParts assertion confirms that the guarded branch ran. Without the guard, the call throws, and the test fails.

lines 224 - 225:
Add a deterministic test near the maximum-Date case that mocks the local
`Date.prototype` getters to a wall time whose anchor overflows on every host,
then calls `getFormattedDate` and verifies the expected result. Spy on
`Intl.DateTimeFormat.prototype.formatToParts` to confirm the invalid-anchor
fallback bypasses it, and restore all spies in a `finally` block so the mocks do
not leak.
The correction loop now compares the full zoned wall clock (including
time fields) with the selected date and shifts the instant by the exact
difference, so DST transition days no longer step it by 23/25 hours,
time fields show the selected wall time in the requested zone, and the
maximum-Date test no longer depends on the host time zone.
The correction loop can push the anchor past the maximum Date on hosts
west of UTC; fall back to formatting the original date instead of
throwing from formatToParts during render.
