Bring Web and Native UI into one experience.
WebView Native UI is an independent open-source initiative for bringing native interfaces and Web content together in WebView-based applications.

Engine provides the native/Web coordination foundation. Native UI Core, maintained inside the Capacitor plugin repository, owns shared control projection and rendering; the Capacitor and Cordova adapters connect it to their respective hosts. Themes own Web styling and layout. Installing a theme does not activate native controls.
Capacitor is the primary supported host; Cordova has a smaller support scope. Both plugins are available as published packages. For Ionic apps using Cordova, /theme and /theme/css/* provide the iOS27 theme without bundler aliases or a separate theme installation. Follow the setup guide for your host.
Standard native controls require supported iOS versions; Android standard controls retain Web presentation, with app-local Compose extensions available separately. Cordova support does not imply full feature parity across hosts, devices or Ionic routing integrations.
The projects release independently. Follow each package's compatibility and setup guide. Documentation on main can include changes that are not yet published; use the documentation for your installed release when available.
Native controls can scroll with Web content, while Web overlays can appear above native controls, without abandoning Web layouts and navigation.

We complement existing WebView frameworks rather than replacing them. The Engine supports Capacitor and Cordova plugin development; the Ionic themes are separate tools with their own support scopes.
Issues, examples, documentation improvements, and pull requests are welcome. Please start in the relevant repository and read the contribution guide.
WebView Native UI is not an official Ionic, Capacitor, or Cordova project.
